ESP stanDS for Electronic Stability Program, which is the abbreviation of the electronic stability system for vehicles. The ESP system is mainly designed to maintain vehicle stability during cornering, preventing phenomena such as oversteer and rollover. Nowadays, ESP systems are widely equipped in many new energy vehicles.

There are four situations in which it is not recommended to use ESP:

1. When driving on icy/snowy or off-road surfaces.

Since the off-road surfaces are usually covered with gravel and sand, the tire grip is relatively low. Therefore, the ESP system may mistakenly perceive the risk of skidding and limit the vehicle's power, resulting in poor off-road capability.

2. When the vehicle is stuck.

When one of the vehicle's wheels is stuck in a mud pit and cannot come out, the wheel will lose traction. In this situation, the ESP system, when activated, will inevitably intervene in the vehicle and reduce the engine's output power. Even pushing the vehicle will be difficult to rescue it.

3. When there is a flat tire or a spare tire is used.

When the vehicle has a flat tire or when a spare tire is installed, the weight distribution of the vehicle changes. At this time, the ESP system may misjudge the vehicle's state. Even during normal driving, the ESP stability system may suddenly be triggered, leading to accidents.

4. When driving aggressively or drifting.

For professional drivers, they want the vehicle to lose control. Under the influence of the ESP system, not to mention racing, it is difficult to drift. Therefore, when racing or off the track, the first thing most drivers do is to disable the ESP system.
